LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A train derailment occurred 9 a.m. on Friday morning, Oct 12, near Long’s Park that shut down Harrisburg Pike up to President Avenue for about an hour.<\/p>\n

A Norfolk Southern train derailed in Lancaster, PA on October 12, 2012 on a section of track between Harrisburg Pike and Manheim Pike near Long's Park.<\/p><\/div>\n

The accident caused three Norfolk Southern train cars to derail, apparently shortly after the westbound train left the railway’s yard behind the U.S. Post Office on Harrisburg Pike.<\/p>\n

The train derailed in the area just east of the Long’s Park pond, on the Manheim Pike side of the tracks causing an Amtrak train headed from Harrisburg to Philadelphia to be delayed about 45 minutes until crews could clear the scene.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation at this time.<\/p>\n
