{"id":6350,"date":"2013-08-13T11:52:42","date_gmt":"2013-08-13T18:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gordon-elias.com\/blog\/?p=6350"},"modified":"2013-08-13T11:52:52","modified_gmt":"2013-08-13T18:52:52","slug":"judge-says-union-pacific-railroads-own-rules-punished-worker-for-being-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gordon-elias.com\/blog\/6350\/judge-says-union-pacific-railroads-own-rules-punished-worker-for-being-injured\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge Says Union Pacific Railroad&#8217;s Own Rules Punished Worker for Being Injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the investigation of a 2010 claim against Union Pacific Railroad, Pamela Lakes, an administrative law judge at the U.S. Department of Labor, has ordered Union Pacific to reinstate a North Platte railroad worker to his apprentice machinist position \u201cas soon as possible\u201d and to pay him $325,000 in damages for illegally firing him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6357\" title=\"union-pacific-railroad\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gordon-elias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/union-pacific-railroad.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gordon-elias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/union-pacific-railroad.jpg 358w, https:\/\/www.gordon-elias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/union-pacific-railroad-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Brian Peterson, who was terminated after reporting a required work-related injury, claimed that Union pacific illegally terminated his position after he turned in the required report for having suffered a minor injury on the job.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred in 2009, when Peterson was injured after another employee ran over his foot while parking his vehicle.
