CLEVELAND, NC – One person was injured on September 23 when a Norfolk Southern train collided with a dump truck in Cleveland, NC. Cleveland is located in Rowan County, in the west-central part of the state about 141 miles west of Raleigh.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 3:47 p.m.Monday afternoon on September 23 at a private rail crossing just north of the 14300 block of Statesville, Bl in Cleveland, NC.<\/p>\n

The train was heading east on its way to Linwood, NC out of Old Fort, NC. The dump truck was knocked down the tracks about .2 of a mile from the point of impact.<\/p>\n

One person was injured in the accident and was airlifted to a hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. There are no details as to the extent of the person’s injuries.<\/p>\n

There were no reports of injuries to any railroad workers.<\/p>\n

The accident is currently under investigation.<\/p>\n
