Caney is in Atoka County, Oklahoma in the southern part of the state about 142 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.
The fatal accident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. in the morning at the Folsom Road railroad crossing just east of Highway 69.

The driver of the 18 wheeler, who was hauling a load of rock at the time, stopped at the railroad crossing and must have failed to see the oncoming train. The big rig driver continued on through the intersection at which time it collided with the train, which was going about 55 miles per hour at the time.
The conductor of the train was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with the big rig.
The semi truck driver was killed in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. According to officials he was 55 years old and was driving a big rig truck for Atoka County.
Two railroad workers, the train’s conductor and engineer, who were on board the train received minor injuries and were taken to Atoka County Medical Center for treatment. Their condition is not known at this time.
