Author: ASH FORK, Ariz. — A railroad worker employed by Burlington Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) was killed on Friday, July 27, after he drove a high-rail truck into a parked freight train in northern, Arizona.
A BNSF railroad worker was killed on July 27, 2012 when a maintenance truck he drove crashed into a parked freight train. The truck was fitted with an attachment for running on rail tracks.

BARTON COUNTY, Mo. — Two railroad workers were taken to a local hospital from injuries sustained after Kansas City Southern and BNSF trains collided in Barton County, Missouri.
Two railroad workers were injured in a collision between a BNSF train and a Kansas City Southern train in Barton County, MO on July 21, 2012. Wreckage and debris were heaped in a pileup of locomotives and rail cars.

COLUMBUS, OHIO — A Norfolk Southern freight train derailed and burst into flames in Columbus, Ohio, early on Wednesday, July 11, forcing residents in the vicinity to evacuate, authorities said.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. – A Union Pacific train derailed on Wednesday, July 4, killing a Glenview couple who were driving under the viaduct when the rail bridge collapsed on top of them due to the weight of the wreckage.
A Union Pacific coal train derailed on July 4, 2012 in Glenview, IL after a rail bridge collapsed, killing two people in a passenger car on the roadway below. The victims and their car were buried under a mountain of twisted metal and rubble. Initially it was thought that no one was hurt, but their bodies were discovered a day later.

TULSA, Okla. – A preliminary federal report released by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Monday, July 9, said the two freight trains that collided in the Oklahoma Panhandle on June 24 were not speeding.
